DUNU DN-13 CRIUS

DUNU DN-13 CRIUS

The DUNU DN13 Crius are in a word, Sweet. It has a compact design that will appeal to those that want a minimalist look. The build quality is typical Dunu, Top Notch!. It is a full metal body with a balance armature transducer.

Like the Hephaes, the Crius comes with an assortment of silicone tips to provide a perfect tight fit for any ear. They provide narrow, wide and double nozzle in 3 sizes. With the right size tip, they do a superb job of isolating noise.

Two carry and storage case to suit your taste. One Leather like pouch and one Patent Leather like zip up.
The wonderful rubber cable wrap is featured on the Crius as well.

How do the Dunu Crius perform???

The Crius is the opposite of the Hephaes and are more like the Ares. Bass is not as full as the ARES. Crius has much more emphasis on mids and highs. Not thin sounding at all but just smooth mid and highs with a slightly rolled off bass response. I found that having the proper tip helped a lot with getting optimal bass response with these. If not, the bass can be lacking.  Acoustical recording, Jazz and Vocal music did well on the Crius. They have good mid clarity and detail.
Bass: Crius bass is ok. Definitely not for bass heads or those who listen to bass heavy music. It has enough bass that male vocals didn't sound thin or out of place.
Midrange: The midrange is very clear and vocals are very articulate.
Treble: Treble is crisp and like the midrange, clear.
Overall Takeaway: The Crius are for those who like a good mid and treble with vocal clarity. Great for acoustical and vocal music. The compact size is also appealing.

The Dunu Crius are currently available for purchase on ebay for about $70.

DUNU DN-16 HEPHAES

DUNU DN-16 HEPHAES

The DUNU DN16 Hephaes are Rocking!! The Bright RED FLAME design will appeal to those wanting some pop fashion. The buds are metal and construction feels solid.

The Hephaes comes with an assortment of silicone tips to provide a perfect tight fit for any ear. They provide narrow, wide and double nozzle in 3 sizes. With the right size tip, they do a superb job of isolating noise.

Two carry and storage case to suit your taste. One Leather like pouch and one Patent Leather like zip up.
The wonderful rubber cable wrap is amazingly handy.

A great accessory included with the Hepheas is the rubber ear hooks. These do a good job of keeping the ear buds in place when being active. Jogging or biking on trails will not be a problem.
How do the Dunu Hephaes perform???

The Hephaes is a bass lovers dream. These are the deepest punchiest earbuds I've tested. It's like having little subwoofers in your head. Lots of impact. Having this much bass isn't for everybody. Definitely geared towards those into rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronic dance music or anything with a good bass line. The funny thing is, the mids and treble did not suffer much as most bassy earbuds do. Symbols and vocals sounded nice and crisp. No harshness in the mids.
Bass: Hephaes bass is very deep and dominant.
Midrange: The midrange is  soft and easy going.
Treble: Treble is crisp and like the midrange, easy going.
Overall Takeaway: The Hephaes are for those who like good bass presence. The overall sound is easy going and broad sounding. No harshness. Great for Rock and Pop music. The Ear hooks are great for people with active lifestyle.

The Dunu Hephaes are currently available for purchase on ebay for about $100.

DUNU DN11 ARES

One look a  the Ares and it screams expensive. Beautiful polished golden finish with tapered curved design. The all metal construction feels substantial in you hand. They are weighty but not enough that they fall out of your ear or weigh your head down.

The Ares comes with an assortment of silicone tips to provide a perfect tight fit for any ear.

Three carry and storage case to suit your taste.

One feature I loved is the built on cord wrapper. Keeps wire from getting tangled and easy to store.

Now lets talk about how it sounds. The Ares has a balance armature transducer. This is more advance than a typical dynamic transducer and is perfect for producing fine details.

Bass: Ares bass is very tight. Its like a good acoustic suspension speaker. No Boominess. Just clean and musical bass. Not the deepest bass I've heard but definitely full and pleasurable.
Midrange: The midrange is  detailed. The Ares strongest area probably due to the balanced armature driver.  Vocals are sweet sounding and instrumental acoustical pieces image well.
Treble: Treble is balanced with the midrange. a little airy which is great for classical music.
Overall Takeaway: The Ares are for those looking for Audiophile type goodness. Good vocals, airy topend, and bass that isn't overwhelming. Perfect for everyday use listening as well as critical listening.

Price for the DUNU ARES is about $80. It's a bargain at this price point.

The Dunu Ares are currently available for purchase on ebay
